IS MEXICAN FOOD HEALTHY?

For some, “healthy Mexican food” sounds like an oxymoron, but  the truth is it’s pretty simple to eat tasty and healthy Tex Mex, especially at the Rio. We like to say that we offer craveable, guilty indulgences that folks expect, as well as a lot of healthier alternatives for those who are watching what they eat.

How to Eat Healthy at the Rio

Our menu can be modified to meet most guests’ wants and needs, like requesting one of our burritos without a tortilla or as a burrito bowl to avoid gluten and/or extra calories. Our black beans (a Rio staple) are not only vegetarian but also made without lard, and our green chile stock is made with chicken instead of pork to minimize fat content. Some of the healthy Mexican food options available at the Rio include any of our fresh, light tacos, salads, guacamole, table salsa, or tortilla soup.

We pride ourselves on serving fresh Mexican food to satisfy any of our diners’ desires, be it gluten-free, vegetarian, keto, or if you’re simply making health-conscious choices. Feel free to ask your server or the manager on duty for recommendations if you need some guidance next time we have the pleasure of serving you in one of our restaurants.
